We are obsessed with youth and undervalue the virtue of age. We act as if people over 50 are worthless. That they are old, obsolete, and disposable. And that they must be hidden behind high walls so we don't see them, lest they remind us that we're all heading there. What a perverse, ignorant, and absurd way to act!
The time has come to reclaim the value of life after 50 and say it as it is; well-structured, it is the most beautiful, productive, and transcendent stage of life. It is when we have the wisdom of age and the means to make a difference.
So, to shape this, he wants to share with you 7 fundamental pillars to vitalize ourselves, reinvent ourselves, and make this stage the best time of our lives.
- Physical health. Everything starts with our best friend, the body. Scientific findings related to radical life extension are advancing by leaps and bounds. Today, with the right exercise and diet, we can shave off 10 years without a problem. I did it, and you can too.
Simply integrate daily exercise, unprocessed food, regular fasting, cold showers, drinking a couple of liters of water a day, and breathing exercises into our lives. These habits bring about the miracle.
They say that today, with the right lifestyle, a 50-year-old person can live in full health past 100 years. Here the relevant qualifier is “in full health.” Can you imagine the joy that this means? - Mental health. Then there's mental health. We've been fed so much nonsense that we've become our own worst enemies. Here too, the science of well-being has advanced by leaps and bounds, and today we have a series of powerful tools to help us take control of our minds and emotions.
And here too, I've had the pleasure of becoming a guinea pig and applying these techniques to myself. With them, I managed to appease my cynical, stressed, and soulless executive and allow my human, balanced, positive, and happy side to re-emerge. And you, just like me, can achieve this. - Spiritual connection. This isn't about belonging to a church, although for many it's a path that works. The important thing is to recognize that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. And here, the two previous practices of mind and body, combined with learning to be present, truly present, help to quell the ego and bring the sense of unity and belonging to a new level of depth, compassion, and inner peace, which makes this stage an unparalleled gift.
- Meaningful relationships. Another fundamental aspect of life after 50 is strengthening our ability to build and preserve meaningful relationships. Here, learning to give and receive is a critical skill for success. And, as with the previous points, there is a set of best practices that can be learned to re-inject magic into relationships.
- Creativity. Then there is creativity. At this stage of life, rediscovering or embracing our creativity is delightful. Singing, dancing, painting, writing… every manifestation of our sensitive side generates connection and immense satisfaction. Here, as with all the previous points, modern science has found that the mind, what is known as mental plasticity, is much more capable and resilient than we had been led to believe. You and I have the capacity to change until the last day of our lives to become the beautiful human beings we are meant to be.
- Happiness. And as a result of working on all of the above, happiness emerges. Loving ourselves for the extraordinary, unrepeatable, and beautiful human beings that we are. And ceasing to feel the need to impress people we don't care about, with things we don't need. Here the goal is to learn to be more and more authentic, more grateful, and to enjoy the present moment to the fullest.
- Money. The money is finally here. Depending on the financial independence we have generated over the years, wealth generation strategies may vary, but the underlying principle will always be the same: to transcend.
And it is precisely in the development of the six axes above that we find the vision, strength, and tenacity to do good WELL.
The secret to a happy life and lasting success lies in being a person who never stops growing. If you follow these principles, regardless of your age, you will find that your talent will always be in high demand.
Here are some ideas for packaging your talent and making money from it:
- If you love people and social interaction, sell the service of planning and executing parties, or turn your home into a mini themed hotel where people will pay to be close to you and be part of your lifestyle.
- If you are passionate about finance, then offer financial services. There is a world of small businesses that require your talent.
- If you are or were a senior executive, become a mentor, executive advisor, or join boards.
- Now, if your heart is in creativity, teach others to create. Use that talent you have and continue to develop as a source of inspiration. Remember that you don't have to be the one who knows the most about the subject. By simply knowing more than the person you're teaching, you're already a valuable mentor.
So, if you're 50 or older, this is the time to embrace your greatness and reinvent yourself. Start with the first steps and begin to shape the most beautiful, meaningful, and transcendent stage of your life.
I'm currently building the product and service “Life After 50” and I'd love to hear from you and know your biggest challenges and needs so I can integrate them.
Thank you.
I would like to have very personal financial stability at this age.
