What I am reading Collecting beautiful people

This week I'm still reading Dan Kennedy. Right now, I'm devouring the anthology of his best work. Truly, his productivity and depth on topics related to generating wealth are unparalleled.

He is the grand master and promoter of direct marketing who has helped generate more millionaire entrepreneurs than any other consultant I know. On Goodreads, he has 117 books to his name and co-authored! They range from how to write a sales letter, build an effective database, cross-selling and retention, to marketing to communities, to the ultra-rich, to the elderly, and selling in the new economy.

His direct and incorrigible style bothers the sensitive. But I find it refreshing in a world full of so much hypocrisy. If you are in the business world, you must read, study, and implement the wisdom of Dan Kennedy. Explore it.

Collecting Beautiful People

This week I had lunch plans with my friend Clara Hernández, and she brought her 11-year-old daughter Sarai to the lunch. What a gift! Sarai was born clinically deaf, and yet, she can hear. Clara says it's possibly because when Sarai was a baby, she would lay her on her chest, where Sarai could feel her heartbeat while Clara sang to her. The reason for the miracle is unknown, but that didn't diminish its value.

Little by little, the conversation turned to her, when Clara commented that her teacher at school was insisting that Sarai be taken to a psychiatrist, because Sarai asserted that she had invisible friends who accompanied her.

Invisible friends to others. What a great topic! If your invisible friend is named Wilson, like Sarai's, then you're crazy. But if your invisible friend is the Virgin Mary appearing to you, then you're touched by the hand of God. Absurd. I recommended she not be intimidated. And to give her strength, I shared my idea on the topic and my own experience.

I explained to her that I believe we live in an intelligent universe and that God manifests himself through the channel we provide. I told her that I, like her, have enjoyed the gift of being able to invoke, converse with, and learn from invisible friends since childhood. Specifically, I told her about a time in my life when I delved deeply into Catholicism and became interested in the sites where the Virgin Mary appeared, and how I went to one of them and she appeared to me. And after that, she continued to appear to me daily during the time I went to mass every day.

I'll tell you the whole story of how the Virgin invited us to meet her another time. It's a very funny story, but for now, let's get back to Sarai. What a special girl. An open, curious, and intelligent girl who listens without being able to hear!

I thank God for continuing to put beautiful people like her in my path.

Her mom later told me that Sarai left the meal happy with renewed spirits to not be intimidated by narrow-minded people who are motivated more by fear and prejudice than by love, curiosity, and wisdom.

My Daily Struggle

These days I've been integrating and enjoying tactile exercises into my half-hour morning meditation. I'm sharing a text with you so you can do one on your own. It's powerful, delightful, and a great tool for grounding yourself in the present.

Start by placing your hands in front of your head. Now, gently slide them over your face. Feel the touch on your forehead and eyebrows. Continue over your eyelashes. Feel the sensitivity of your eyelashes. Continue over your nose and reach under your nose with your fingers. Feel the temperature of the cool air as it enters your nose and feel the temperature of the warm air as it leaves. Continue the journey by gently sliding your fingers over your lips. Feel the extraordinary sensitivity of your lips. Enjoy the symphony of sensations. Breathe in deeply and as you exhale, say a long ahhhhh. Relax them and continue the journey over them. Continue to your chin, down your neck, and until your hands rest on your heart. Remain here for a few breaths in a state of contemplation and gratitude for the powerful and delicious gift of touch.

Well, with that I'll end this week's story. Have a great day!
