Today I want to share a conversation I had with OpenAI about the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence.
First, I want to acknowledge the solidity of your answers. They are concrete, informative, and well-structured.
Undoubtedly, a person who doesn't understand how to capitalize on technology might imagine that artificial intelligence will replace them.
And this is the great challenge that lies before us. We must learn to use technology to our advantage.
As it turns out, IQ growth in some developed countries has stagnated and even reversed. And for me, this is an urgent call for us to reconsider education.
The principles based on which we defined intelligence, starting from IQ tests established in 1930, have changed. Blaming interaction with technology as the culprit strikes me as an act of arrogance from my generation.
I see two main avenues to embrace. The first is interaction with technology. We need to learn to use it to free our intelligence instead of submitting it to the manipulation of the commercial interests of leading social media companies. And the second, which goes hand in hand, is to strengthen all the human aspects that technology cannot, and should not, govern, and which are the foundations of a healthy society.
A phrase that defines the vision I profess is «more technology and more humanity is the binomial of the future.».
So, let's teach how to use technology to unleash our intelligence. Having all the world's information at our fingertips is an extraordinary gift. It allows us to save a lot of time by not having to search for it and dedicate that time to dialectics, analysis, and synthesis. As well as developing new concepts that are not part of the artificial intelligence database, which propel humanity forward.
As Galileo said, thanks to being able to stand on the shoulders of giants, I have been able to see further. Technology is the giant of giants. It allows us to see further than ever before, freeing our minds and spirits to focus on truly transcendent things.
And then there's humanity. Sacred humanity. When I asked OpenAI what it doesn't do well, what it's not good for, it responded that it doesn't understand the subtleties of the human spirit. Concepts like empathy, solidarity, and compassion. Ultimately, that which makes us human.
So, today I invite you to join me as we together define the rules we require for a positive outcome for technology and humanity.
On one hand, let's focus on strengthening human values. Let's teach children, youth, and adults the basic principles of what makes us human. Let's understand, embrace, and make our own empathy, compassion, love, and forgiveness. Let's take care of ourselves in body, mind, and soul. Likewise, let's assume responsibility for the sustainability of the human community and the planet.
On the other hand, we need to be much more proactive and hands-on with technological development. We need to build educational platforms that are as entertaining as video games and that manage to touch upon and develop our human sense.
On the other hand, it's also up to us business owners to educate. Today, the highest cost we're facing is discouragement and depression among employees. This won't be solved through basic education. We need to foster positive leadership that builds an integrated, resilient, and visionary culture based on purpose. A culture that reaches into homes and strengthens the social fabric.
In conclusion, we are at a critical moment. It's up to you and me to define the outcome. If we do nothing, a series of dire inertia will continue alienating our youth and sabotaging our workforce. But if we embrace our greatness, everything is in place to build the most beautiful and abundant era that humanity has ever known.
